For non-designers, text is text. But to designers, it is so much more.

Welcome to the world of typography!

Typography is a form of art. Typography can bring a design to life, elevating it from good to great – and we firmly believe that great design should be the only type of design.

We don’t expect everyone to be a typography expert but we do think it is helpful for everyone to have a baseline (wink wink) of understanding which is why we have put together a list of terms to help educate you on the basics of typography.

Throw a few of these terms into the conversation next time you are communicating with a designer and they’ll think you’re a typography pro.

Types of Typefaces

Now, we’re getting a little advanced here but did you know there are even different types of typefaces?

Some are better for headlines while other are better suited for pages of text.

When working on any project, it is necessary to pick a typeface that best represents the client and what they are trying to accomplish.

There is a lot to learn when it comes to typography, but hopefully this has helped with the basics! Now, go explore some typefaces and let us know which ones are your favorite!
